If we take a look at Attaching my body to my heritage we see how, beyond all the floating ingredients and objects, parts of Hien's face and body emerge from the bottom of the soup. In a way, the artist links her own body to the gastronomic heritage inherited from her culture and with which she seeks to get to the bottom of the reasons that cause resentment towards Asians.

The body remains at the centre of everything and identity is that which underlies the image and which is subjected to judgement by subjects outside her culture.
